Ross Ashton

Projection Artist

The FIFA Football World Cup
South Africa 2010

In 2010 I was part of the team that created the closing ceremony for the World Cup celebrations in Johannesburg, SA.

The installation featured 18 Christie 18k projectors projecting onto a cloth laid over the pitch.
The installation and programming work was carried out by French firm ETC Audiovisuel.

My role was to liaise between the creative team of VWV, the software producers at Ministry of Illusion, the production team of Jack Morton, the projection team of ETC Audiovisuel and the technical team at Gearhouse SA, advising on all aspects of the projection.  The result was a stunning mix of dance, puppetry and projection.
I was proud to have been a part of this important event.
